The Route

The bicycle route from Seattle to Portland is well established. The Cascade Bicycle Club has been holding The STP Event for 40 years and the route is publicly available for us to use. The entire STP route is approximately 206 miles. We may tweak it slightly to suit our best start and finish points. The ride is not particularly hilly, although there are a few challenging climbs. Riders with a moderate amount of training should find it well within their ability. At approximately the midway point is a town called Centralia with several modestly priced hotels for an overnight stop. This would be a “no-drop” ride, meaning that regardless of ability, no one will be left behind. To insure this, there will always be someone designated to “sweep” the ride. Ideally, all riders will stay as close together as possible for most of the ride.
